Since its foundation, W.M.T. – Water and Mechanical Technology has contributed to the study and subsequent engineering of anti-oxidation and lubrication systems for hot forming, through plastic deformation, of ferrous products for the steel industry.
The engineering process has been articulated over time through:
- an initial study phase with the identification and testing of products suitable for achieving the intended purpose;
- then the formulated products were tested, with tests both in the laboratory and on pilot plants;
- once the predetermined results were achieved, we proceeded to the engineering of the equipment needed to create the plant;
- finally came the supply of the systems for preparing, maintaining and spraying lubricant on the components used to perform hot plastic deformation with the forming of the required product.
The main application fields of these technologies are:
- stamping,
- forging presses;
- billet perforators,
- seamless tube rolling mills with technology:
- M.P.M. (Multistand Pipe Mills),
- P.Q.F. (Premium Quality Finishing),
- R.E.M. (Rotary expanding mill).
The process of antioxidation of the workpiece is mainly carried out by application of borax. The product, in solid granular form, is applied by launching with pressurized equipment of inert gas on the workpiece.
Depending on the product packaging supplied, the systems can be equipped:
- with loading systems:
- manual,
- semi-automatic,
- fully automatic;
- while the product transport technology can be:
- mechanical,
- pneumatic.
The die lubrication process, which enables hot forming, is mainly carried out with graphite-based products prepared in specially additive aqueous suspensions and applied by spraying or fluid coating (flow-coating) on the contact surfaces.
These systems differ:
- according to the type and packaging of the product to be applied, this can be supplied:
- diluted and ready to use, in which case the following will be provided:
- transfer systems,
- pumping systems.
- in powder/granulate, in which case the following will be provided:
- product loading, storage, dosing and mixing systems, these can be:
- manual,
- semi-automatic,
- fully automatic;
- can use conveying technology:
- mechanical,
- pneumatic;
- while mixing technology can be:
- hydraulic,
- mechanical.
- product loading, storage, dosing and mixing systems, these can be:
- diluted and ready to use, in which case the following will be provided:
- based on the method of loading and preparing the product, which can be:
- batch,
- continuous;
- based on the method of maintaining and feeding the product, which can be:
- in forced re-circulation,
- activated at the time of use;
- based on the application method of the product, which can be:
- by flow-coating,
- by high-pressure spraying;
- for this technology the systems are then differentiated by systems with spraying devices:
- passive, pressure opens – spring closes,
- piloted, pneumatically controlled open – close.
- for this technology the systems are then differentiated by systems with spraying devices:
W.M.T. – Water and Mechanical Technology also supplies the components of the lacquer circuit for lubrication systems such as: filters, valves and spray guns, guaranteeing: both complete interchangeability with similar components installed on our systems, and the availability of spare parts over time.
Another method of die lubrication, which allows hot forming associated with a simultaneous discarding process of the machined glowing workpiece, is carried out using sodium chloride, either in solid/granular form or dissolved in a saturated aqueous solution, applied by spraying with pressurized equipment of inert gas on the workpiece and contact surfaces.
In light of the high configuration possibilities of these types of systems, for any information and/or implementation suggestions in order to meet your specific needs, please contact our technical department.
